Nationwide Solar Power Expansion on Self-Storage Rooftops
Solar Landscape Partners with National Storage Affiliates Trust to Install 100 Megawatts of Solar Panels
In an innovative move to boost renewable energy usage, Solar Landscape, a commercial and community solar developer, has partnered with the National Storage Affiliates Trust (NSA) to transform 8.5 million square feet of self-storage rooftops into a solar power grid. The grid, which spans across 1,052 facilities in 42 states and Puerto Rico, is expected to generate at least 100 megawatts of solar capacity.
The NSA, one of the largest self-storage operators in the nation, is headquartered in Greenwood Village, Colorado, with well-known brands under its umbrella. With this groundbreaking project, NSA's buildings will not only be powered by clean energy, but the excess electricity generated will also be supplied to neighboring businesses and households at a reduced rate.
Finding Solutions to the Space Challenge of Solar Energy
Finding enough physical space for solar panel installation has long been a challenge in the growing renewable energy sector. However, Solar Landscape and the NSA's collaboration may be the key to unlocking the vast potential of untapped spaces across the nation. By using the expansive rooftops of self-storage facilities, this partnership could pave the way for other communities to leverage similar solar energy solutions.
As the world increasingly shifts towards sustainable energy sources, projects like this not only contribute to environmental conservation but also provide a model for future solar power initiatives. With the promise of discounted clean power to communities, NSA and Solar Landscape are leading a charge that could significantly impact how we approach renewable energy infrastructure in the future.
