Google Pay is set to go offline in just a couple of weeks in the United States, but that hasn't stopped the tech giant from rolling out new features aimed at making online shopping more convenient and rewarding for users.

Card Benefits at Checkout

American Express and Capital One cardholders will be pleased to know that they can now see the rewards and benefits their cards offer directly in the Chrome desktop autofill dropdown menu. This feature will show potential perks such as travel points or cashback opportunities when shopping online. More card partnerships are expected to be added in the future.

Buy Now, Pay Later Expansion

Google has also expanded the buy now, pay later (BNPL) payment option for merchant sites and Android apps across the US. This flexible payment option is being offered through partnerships with BNPL services Affirm and Zip, although specific sites and apps that will support this feature have not been disclosed.

Autofill Security Update

On a global scale, shoppers using Chrome or Android will enjoy an updated autofill experience. They can confirm card details using biometrics or their screen lock PIN, eliminating the need to manually input the security code. Should any transactions appear suspicious, Google Pay is designed to block potential fraudulent payments. Additionally, users can set up a device unlock option that requires them to unlock their phones to reveal full card details, adding an extra layer of security against unauthorized use.

These updates to Google Pay are already rolling out and are expected to enhance the shopping experience for users, making it easier to earn rewards and protect their card information. Keep an eye out for these changes on your next online shopping trip.
