Google has recently announced the addition of several new apps and streaming services to its Android Automotive infotainment platform. This platform is currently being used by renowned car manufacturers such as Volvo, Polestar, Renault, and Porsche for their upcoming models.

The tech giant has also extended its services to other car brands including Ford, Acura, Honda, Buick, and Cadillac through its Google Automotive Services (GAS). This allows these brands to offer built-in Google Maps, Google Play, and Google Assistant on their in-car displays.

Now, vehicle owners in the US can enjoy two new streaming services, Max and Peacock, along with the popular game Angry Birds. However, it's important to note that most vehicles require being parked to legally access gaming and video streaming services.

Porsche, on the other hand, is introducing optional passenger displays in its Macan EV and revised Panamera that use a special privacy coating. This coating allows passengers to access gaming and video streaming services while on the move without distracting the driver.

Additionally, Android Auto is getting an update allowing access to the Uber app directly from the vehicle's infotainment screen. The update also includes web browsers like Vivaldi and Google Chrome that can be used without connecting a smartphone.

With this latest development, Google is setting a new benchmark in in-car entertainment, something that has been dominated by Tesla with its app-compatible operating system offering Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, and other games. The move by Google has been welcomed by many as it simplifies the in-car app experience and provides what customers want - easy access to their favorite apps inside their vehicle.
