The well-known off-road electric vehicle racing series, Extreme E, has announced a major rebranding to Extreme H - pivoting from electric to hydrogen power. Accompanying this move, they revealed their latest hydrogen-powered race car, the Pioneer 25. This sets a new frontier for racing innovation and sustainability with the series set to launch its first season in April 2025, starting in Saudi Arabia.

The Dawn of Hydrogen in Motorsport

Extreme H is set to challenge the status quo by not only pushing the boundaries of racing with hydrogen-powered vehicles but by testing and promoting the entire hydrogen ecosystem. From recharging to transportation, they aim to create a viable market for green hydrogen power. The series, which held its first electric race in 2021, has already seen significant involvement from major racing teams including McLaren.

Pioneer 25 - The Flagship Hydrogen Race Car

The star of the show, the Pioneer 25, is Extreme H's flagship race car. Powered by a 75kW hydrogen fuel cell, it stands as a symbol of extreme performance and clean energy. The series aims to demonstrate that hydrogen can be a practical fuel source while supporting the creation of green power solutions suitable for remote locations and bustling cities alike.

Extreme H's Commitment to a Greener Future

"By launching Extreme H, we're not only showcasing the viability of hydrogen as a fuel source but also testing the wider hydrogen ecosystem including recharging and hydrogen transportation — as well as helping to create a market for it," said Alejandro Agag, founder and CEO of Extreme H.

The series aims to influence and inspire innovations in the auto-industry by demonstrating hydrogen's potential in extreme environments. With the launch of Extreme H, the future of motorsport looks both exhilarating and environmentally conscious, merging the thrills of racing with the necessity for sustainability.
