Get Ready for the AmpereOne-3: 256 Cores on the Horizon!

Ampere Computing has been making waves in the tech industry with its groundbreaking processors designed for optimal cloud efficiency and performance. The company's AmpereOne Family of processors, launched with an impressive 192 single-threaded Ampere cores, showcased Ampere's commitment to performance without compromising power sustainability.

"We cannot continue to use power as a proxy for performance in the data center. At Ampere, we design our products to maximize performance at a sustainable power, so we can continue to drive the future of the industry," Renée James, CEO of Ampere Computing.

Not resting on its laurels, Ampere Computing is gearing up to release the next generation of its processor, AmpereOne-2, later this year. This chip is set to deliver a 33 percent boost in DDR5 memory controllers and an impressive 50 percent increase in memory bandwidth.

But the real excitement lies with what's in store for 2025. Enter the AmpereOne-3, a processor that is already raising eyebrows with its futuristic specs, including 256 cores etched in an advanced 3-nanometer process by TSMC. Innovatively designed with a two-chiplet architecture, each wielding 128 cores or possibly four chiplets with 64 cores each, AmpereOne-3 promises to take performance to astronomical heights.

Anticipated to support PCI-Express 6.0 I/O controllers and potentially up to a dozen DDR5 memory controllers, the AmpereOne-3 is sure to be a game-changer in the tech world. With cloud features centered around performance management, security enhancements, and a chiplet approach, AmpereOne-3 is primed to offer consistency in performance across all AmpereOne generations.

"Chiplets are a pretty big part of our overall strategy," said Jeff Wittich, Chief Product Officer at Ampere Computing.

As tech enthusiasts eagerly await the release of this 256-core behemoth, AmpereOne-3 is reportedly in the etching phase now at TSMC, prior to its launch next year, solidifying Ampere Computing's position at the forefront of processor innovation.
