AMD Reveals Work on Future Zen 7 Processors
AMD has announced that they are already working on the development of their Zen 7 processors, which are set to be released two generations after the upcoming Zen 5 CPUs. This early development stage indicates AMD's commitment to staying ahead in the processor game.
The news was confirmed by AMD's CTO Mark Papermaster during the company's Zen 5 Tech Day. While no specific release dates have been provided for the Zen 6 or Zen 7 processors, it is speculated that Zen 6 may arrive around mid-2026 and Zen 7 in early 2028.
AMD also confirmed that their current AM5 chipset will be supported until at least 2027, ensuring compatibility with Ryzen 7000, 9000, and Zen 6 CPUs. However, it is possible that Zen 7 may require a new motherboard with a different CPU socket.
The company's focus on Zen 5 was evident at the Tech Day, with the announcement of the Ryzen 9000 CPUs release date set for July 31, along with a new overclocking feature and promising performance details for the Ryzen 9700X.
AMD's forward-thinking approach to processor development ensures that they will continue to provide cutting-edge technology for PCs as we approach the next decade.
