Amazon Echo Show 8 Photos Edition owners, it's time to say goodbye to the PhotosPlus subscription feature that allowed you to upload and display your personal pictures on your device. Starting September 23, Amazon will no longer support this feature, and users will have to adjust to seeing ads on their home screen.

No More Personal Photos on Echo Show 8

Previously, for just $2 a month, Echo Show 8 users could turn their device into a digital picture frame, with photos rotating every 30 seconds. This feature will be discontinued, and any mentions of PhotosPlus have already been removed from Amazon's website. The device itself is no longer available for sale.

Amazon's Shift in Strategy

With the tech giant facing financial struggles with Alexa devices, Amazon seems to be changing its approach. They've eliminated bonuses for Alexa developers and are working on a new advanced version of Alexa, which may come with its own subscription fee. This pivot may be part of Amazon's attempt to recoup some of the more than $25 billion lost on Alexa devices from 2017 to 2021.

What's Next for Echo Show 8 Owners?

For those affected by this change, Amazon offers 25 GB of storage on Amazon Photos to upload your pictures. Unfortunately, the unique personal touch of the Echo Show 8 Photos Edition will be replaced with advertisements, as Amazon continues to explore new ways to generate revenue from its Alexa devices. Get ready to adapt to this new change and keep an eye out for Amazon's future developments with Alexa.
