Alarming Rate of Data Breaches in Enterprises Revealed

Data breaches have become a prevalent issue for enterprises, with a new study revealing dire consequences for those affected. The survey, which included responses from 450 security leaders, found that 93% of breached enterprises suffered from operational downtime and financial losses.

The report also highlights that enterprises are investing in penetration testing (pentesting), with 13% of their cybersecurity budgets allocated to this area. Pentesting helps verify the strength of systems and guides enterprises on where to allocate their resources for maximum protection.

Challenges in Enterprise Pentesting

Despite the importance of pentesting, the study found that it is not keeping up with the rapid evolution of IT systems. A majority of enterprises make IT changes every quarter, but only 40% conduct pentesting with the same frequency. This discrepancy increases the risk of cyberattacks.

Additionally, cybersecurity teams are overwhelmed with the number of security-related events that require attention, with some enterprises reporting at least 500 events per week that need fixing.

The study also found that 51% of enterprises have experienced a breach in the past two years, despite deploying an average of 53 cybersecurity solutions. This highlights the need for more effective technology to combat cyberthreats.
