With the rise of 5G technology, private 5G networks are becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to Wi-Fi, offering faster and more secure connections. Vodafone, in collaboration with Lime Microsystems, has launched the LimeNET Micro 2.0 Developer Edition, a private 5G base-station kit that is now available for purchase through Crowd Supply.

Revolutionizing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

Vodafone aims to provide 22 million SMEs across Europe with access to mobile private networks (MPNs) using 5G. The modular radio platform, which is powered by the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 and LimeSDR XTRX, is designed to offer a turnkey private 5G network solution with enhanced security and mobility benefits.

A Portable Solution for Various Use Cases

The LimeNET Micro 2.0 Developer Edition offers an ultraportable solution that can be used for a range of applications, from facilitating connectivity in a bakery without the need for passwords or QR codes, to deployment in drones and autonomous robots for remote and tactical operations.

This innovative technology has been shown to deliver connections up to ten times faster than Wi-Fi in high-load networks, proving its potential to transform connectivity in various industries.

Crowdfunding Success Indicates Growing Interest

With a crowdfunding campaign that aims to raise funds and gauge community interest, the LimeNET Micro 2.0 Developer Edition is seeking feedback from early adopters. At the time of writing, there are still 22 days left to support the project, which has already surpassed its $1 goal.

Ebrahim Bushehri, CEO and founder of Lime Networks, emphasized the importance of crowdfunding as an indicator of community engagement and the potential for this technology to cater to the growing demand for private 5G networks.

As 5G continues to revolutionize the connectivity landscape, Vodafone and Lime Microsystems are at the forefront, offering accessible and powerful solutions for businesses and individuals alike.
